What got you into hockey?
Both my parents played hockey when I was a kid. I always joined them at their games and got into hockey that way.

Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
My biggest inspiration is Usain Bolt. I see him as the perfect example that combining joy, desire and motivation can get you everywhere. If you got these three elements, it doesn’t matter who you are. You can get to the top!

What does hockey mean for you, right now?
Right now I play hockey to have fun, be proud of where I'm at, discover where I can go, and to be with my friends.

What is it like getting to represent your club/country?
Representing Pinoké and the (junior) Netherlands brings a lot of pride, respect and fun. I have been playing at Pinoké since I was 4 years old. So when we play a game, especially at home, and seeing all the people that you got to know in this timespan of 16 years, is very special!

Representing your country is, as you can imagine, also a wonderful feeling.

First and foremost, getting chosen out of all Dutch players under 21, is extremely flattering and I feel very honored. Then, I am of course honored to be able to represent The Netherlands at big tournaments and last, but definitely not least, I enjoy the moment that the game starts and I can play the game that I like the most.

What is your pre-/after game ritual?
I have no special pre or after game rituals.

What do you still want to achieve as athlete?
As an athlete I still have some dreams I want to achieve. Firstly, I hope to become a key player of Pinoké and give back what they have given me all these years! On an international level I dream to play the Olympics one day. This is still far away, but nonetheless a big dream of me.

In what way has Osaka impacted your journey as an athlete?
Osaka has had (and still has) a huge impact on my journey as an athlete. Our partnership started in 2016 and I see no reason to ever end my contract with Osaka. Osaka always lets you play with the best of the best equipment. As you can imagine, playing with the best equipment for over 5 years has had a huge impact on my hockey career.

What made you want to team up with Osaka in the first place?
I have always been in love with the look of Osaka. When I then started using the equipment, I instantly knew that this was the perfect brand for me.

What is your ultimate tip for a starting athlete?
Never let anyone tell you that you can't. I believe that with enough practice, anyone can do anything.
