How It All Started
The idea for this brand didn't just happen overnight. During my studies, I started thinking about what I wanted to build alongside my biggest passion: hockey. The real spark came to me right after my matches. Time and time again, enthusiastic young players would run up to me and ask if they could have my hairband.
It made me realize that it’s not just about a piece of fabric; it’s about the feeling it gives them. I remember being a young girl looking up to the players of the Dutch national team. I paid attention to what shoes they wore, which sticks they used, and the way they played. I know firsthand how a small detail can give you that extra bit of self-confidence when you step onto the pitch. That realization became the foundation of Yibbi: creating something that helps young players feel great and empowers them to be themselves.
The Ulysses Butterfly: Our Logo
When it came time to design the brand's visual identity, I created a mood board filled with everything I stand for: elegance, power, speed, and of course, hockey. All these elements came together perfectly in our logo: the Ulysses butterfly.
This specific butterfly doesn't just flutter around aimlessly. It moves with purpose, speed, and elegance, cutting right through the wind. That is exactly how I feel when I'm on the hockey pitch. Playing with freedom, trusting in myself, and purely enjoying the game. If you look closely, you’ll even see the letters of my name creatively hidden within the butterfly's wings, adding a very personal touch. My biggest hope is that when people see this logo, they experience that same feeling of freedom and remember exactly why they fell in love with hockey.
